Opening of Ahmed Saeed Nalayeh School

We are incredibly happy to announce we have officially opened our doors to the community of Gal-Barwaaqo in May 2019.

140 displaced nomadic children attend this school, from Kindergarten to 4th grade.

The community Gal-Barwaaqo was formed in March of 2017, when the Nomads lost their only source of income, livestock, due to the extreme drought. The effects of the drought were worsened by unsettlement in the region, which lead to their repeated displacement. Consequently, most of the children the Gal-Barwaaqo community have never received a formal education of any kind.

With the help of generous people like you, this community of displaced families has grown tremendously over the last three years.

Brand new uniform, stationary and school bags were given to all the students.

We support 140+ children here, 90% of these bright and eager kids have never had a formal education. This education will transform their way of life because the environmental changes have made it impossible for their nomadic life to continue. The education will provide the tools needed to revolutionize their lives and that of their communities.
